Location of JNU
Situated in a bush forest on a ridge of the Aravalli hills with about 1000 acres (4 km²) of land in South Delhi, the university is mainly a research oriented postgraduate University with about 5500 students. The faculty strength is around 550. The University is organized in ten Schools (each of which has several Centers) as well as four independent Special Centers. It's walled campus that has three gates for entrance. Out of these three gates only one gate i.e. the North Gate, also called the main gate, is open for visitors and other vehicles. The North Gate is facing Budha Vihar of Munirka Village.

The following is a static map taken from the same source:
From Nizamuddin Railway Station:
There is no direct bus for JNU from this station. You can catch a prepaid taxi or auto from Nizammuddin Railway. A prepaid auto will cost around Rs. 120/- and a taxi would come about 250-300. Beware of the touts outside the station. They will cox you to come with them on a taxi or an auto-rickshaw. Avoid them until you feel comfortable enough to talk to one of them, if you are not planning to take the prepaid service.
From New Delhi Railway Station:
There is a direct bus from the Minto Road Bus Terminal. Minto Road Bus Terminal is located about 500 metres from the Ajmeri Gate side of the NDLS. After coming out of the station yard, you can take a hand pulled rickshaw to go to Minto Road Bus Stop. The hand pulled rickshaw shouldn't cost more than Rs. 10/-. If you are reaching Minto Road Bus Stop not later than 8pm in the night and after 6a.m. in the morning, you will get the only direct bus service to JNU. That is route no. 615 - the only lifeline of students in JNU for a city ride. The bus comes direct to JNU after a one hour ride. The ticket is Rs. 10/-.
You can also take the prepaid auto-rickshaw or taxi service from the prepaid counter located outside the platform on both the sides of the NDLS. An auto would cost abt Rs. 120/- and a taxi about 250-300.
From Old Delhi Railway Station:
No direct bus service from here. If you are boarding down at this station, you should better take either an auto-rickshaw or a taxi. The cost would be almost the same as mentioned above.
From IGI Airport:
The best way from here is to take a prepaid taxi outside the arrival terminal. Ask the prepaid booth operator to give you a receipt for your destination i.e. JNU. JNU is near Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj and Munirka and is about 15 kilometres from the Airport. Once you take the receipt, look around you -there would be many taxies lined in queue. They are all prepaid taxies and would go to any place in Delhi if you show them your receipt. Sometimes, when there is a rush you may have to walk down the queue a little to get a vacant taxi. The approximate taxi fare from the IGI airport to JNU is n between Rs. 200-300.
However, if you want an idea of how the ride would be like, read on. From the domestic/international airport head towards the National Highway 8 and over to the Munirka/Olof Palme Marg. From there take the route towards Rao Tula Ram Marg and move towards the JNU main gate.
JNU and nearby areas :
As said earlier, JNU has a very large campus of its own. There are several academic institutions near JNU like IIT, IIMC, NCERT, KVS Headquarters, ISI, etc. We show here a map, extracted from the Google Map, of JNU and nearby areas. Please note that most of the participants of this conference have been accommodated in facilities that are outside the JNU campus. To be specific, our delegates are statying in the United Students' Organization (USO) facilities which is located at the near the East Gate of JNU campus and at the NIE's PG Hostel in the NCERT campus. While the USO is about one kilometre away from the conference venue, the NCERT campus is about 2 kilometre away from the campus. From USO, one can walk down to the conference venue. From NCERT, we will provide a ferrying service twice a day for the participants.
Where to reach at JNU
The participants are to reach Centre for Linguistics, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies (SL in short) in JNU new campus first. As the campus is spread in a big area, we will receive you at the SL parking lot on 18th February till 2:30 pm. If you arrive later, you will have to establish contact with one of the members of the accommodation committee to get started.

Weather:
Generally we can expect a maximum of 24 degrees and a minimum of 10 degrees temperature in the month of February. This is the best season to visit Delhi as this is the bloom season (in Delhi). It is still recommended to carry a light shawl or a half sweater in order to keep oneself warm; blankets can also be carried in case there is a turn in the weather conditions.
